It really is a good time to buy many places. No one can guarantee where prices will be next year. But, at least in my market, interest rates are low and prices like this have not been seen in a decade. When prices go up, will these same people criticize us because they missed the boat? What we have that many areas do not have is the outdoor lifestyle so many dream of and when times get tough we tend to draw buyers that other areas may not. Are we at rock bottom, no one knows, but I do know this... prices will go up - and those that buy while we are seeing prices lower will benefit from this market. Sellers are motivated, many will pay closing costs and are willing to work with buyers like we have not seen in years. Our inventory is high, competition is high and mortgage rates are low. Realtors have been saying prices never go down in central oregon, and then they said last year that things will turn around in the spring.
