Sunriver For Your Vacation or Second Home

August 5th, 2007 Posted in Sunriver

Second homes and vacation homes are what most buyers in Sunriver Oregon are looking for.  Sunriver is full of vacation rentals and second homes.  There are several property managers in Sunriver that specialize in the “nightly” rentals of these homes.

Although they are called nightly most of the companies have a 2 night minimum because of the expense of housekeeping.  Sunriver has seen a good rental business this year, with gas prices and air fares going up or showing signs of instability.  Families find Sunriver a great place to get away from it all.

Why Sunriver you might ask, the reason is simple.  Sunriver is located in the middle of Oregon, at the base of the eastern side of the Cascades.  This allows for year around resort living or vacationing and an outdoor lifestyle not available in other areas.

In the summer some of the activities you can expect to enjoy on the resort are; 2 public pools, 2 golf courses, 38 miles of paved bike paths, Nature galore, Spa, Great Restaurants, Live Music, Community Events, Shopping, Kayaking on the Deschutes, Rafting on the Deschutes and so much more.

Winter time skiing is a quick drive or bus ride from the resort to our famous Mt.

Bachelor.

Because Sunriver is such a popular destination resort, it has also become a great place for investment property, second homes and vacation homes.  The real estate market in Sunriver is always different than what reports will show for the zip code in which it is.

Sunriver is an unincorporated area that does have its own police force and fire department.  This keeps your insurance rates reasonable.  You will find 2 full service grocery stores, a liquor store and all kinds of shopping.

Prices in Sunriver start at about $300,000 and top out at over $3,000,000.

That home looks great! I can see why Sunriver is popular for vacation homes.

Sounds like Sunriver is a great place to live year-round as well as vacation! What is the average per night rate?

Paula - Average nightly rate varies from home to home. It is pretty wide open there are homes that rent for as low as $100 a night and offer specials like get the 7th night free or even 4 nights for the price of two in the off season… all the way up to $700 or so a night. Now keep in mind at $700 a night you are getting a huge home and typically these homes are rented to large groups sharing the expense - sounds like a subject I need to blog about.
