Surprise – They’re BACK

by Thesa Chambers, Principal Broker on May 3, 2012

REALTORS® in Central Oregon as well as else where in the US often talk about the glory days.  The days of multiple offers, when a house had multiple offers before a flyer could be printed or a sign put in the ground!  Well in Bend and other areas of Central Oregon they’re Back!

This last weekend I showed property to 3 different buyers and we had similar results, MULTIPLE OFFERS! One buyer was looking in Bend in specific neighborhoods, one was looking in La Pine for homes under $200,000 with a shop and the third was looking for a specific condo project in Sunriver.

Buyer’s if you are coming to the Central Oregon area and looking to purchase a home that is unique, well priced or recently had a price reduction, know that there are most likely many other buyers watching the same properties as you are.  Be ready to write that offer before you take the chance of losing that dream home you have waited so long to obtain.

Buyers are under the wrong impression if they think they are in control right now – they are not! My office has had a couple multiple offer situations lately and on properties that have been out there for awhile. The attitude “the seller will do it my way if they want to sell” days are over! Buyers need to straighten up and get serious or they are going to lose out and have to start their search all over again.

Buyers are surprised when they drag their feet and then lose the house to another buyer. I tell my buyers “If you like this house, chances are someone else does too.”
